As a business coach, I am constantly working with people who have lots of ideas and plenty of enthusiasm. But what is truly challenging to get people to do is TAKE ACTION. When I see someone walk their talk, that is when I know that they have what it takes to become successful.
I think most people have a hard time following through with their ideas because of these 3 reasons:
1) It's overwhelming.
At the beginning there are so many decisions to make and so many options to choose between it is so hard to know where to start (and then even once you do, how do you know where to go from there?). Most just give up and never even try.
2) It's a lot of work.
Everyone loves to talk about their aspirations or how they want to become entrepreneurs but real entrepreneurs know how hard it is to succeed. Their is definite strategy required to make it big, but most of the time the most important characteristic you need is to work really, really hard (consistently and for as long as it takes). There is only a very select group of people who will put the immense amount of time and energy in that is required to start and run a business. Everyone else will just talk about it, but never do it.
3) It's really scary.
Starting your own business means putting yourself out there and saying "I'm going to do this knowing full well that I may totally fall on my face in front of everyone." But if you want it bad enough, you don't care. Or you care, but not enough to let it stop you. Every time I get nervous or doubt myself I just think of all of the entreprenuers before me and all the risks that they had to take and all of the obstacles that they had to overcome. It's never easy, but it's always worth it.
Today's Shocking Strategy
The shocking strategy that I want to share with you today is that sometimes you have to make decisions that could very well be wrong just for the sake of moving forward. I think that being a perfectionist is actually a terrible skill for an entreprenuer to have because it cripples people from being able to move forward quickly. Trial and error is the only way to really learn and grow. There is a widely known strategy that I strongly believe in that states that.
Don't wait for everything to be perfect. Go out there and get some things done! Take the leap my Entrepreneuress!xx
What is holding you back right now? What are you going to do about it?
